Skincare Routine: Oily Skin
So this week based all around my skin, what products are my favourites and what I think works on my face, which is an oily mess at the best of times. If any of you are anything like me and have endless struggles with battling the slip 'n' slide that appears in your T-Zone throughout the day, hopefully this post will either reassure you that you aren't the only one that suffers with this, or it may even give you some products to try to help you fix that issue.
Now before I even start talking about the products I just want to discuss a few things, Firstly, I am certainly not the best as skincare, I don't do my whole skincare routine every night (in fact its rare that I use all of these products at once... because well I'm way too lazy for that, which I know is bad). Secondly, I have really sensitive skin, so I don't tend to branch out with the brands I use (hence why there are only three brands in this routine), and Finally, these products may not work for you or you may not have oily skin, however if that is the case I would still certainly recommend taking a trip into the body shop because there will most definitely be a range in there for your skin type, with similar products just a different formula.
So first I take off my makeup. Now to do this it's going to be no shocker that I use the 'Garnier micellar water: sensitive skin' and I just put this on a cotton pad and remove my makeup with this. I think this is so quick and easy to use and best of all it doesn't just remove your face makeup (foundation, powder, contour...) it also does an amazing job at removing your eye makeup without leaving your face looking like a panda (you know what I'm talking about, come on), and the best part about this product is that it is actually for sensitive skin, which I am definitely here for because lets face it, the goal is to never end up with a face either the colour of a tomato or swelled up... that's just not a cute look.
Another holy grail skincare product and anyone with oily skin or visible pores listen up, is 'The Body Shop Tea Tree pore minimiser'. Now, this product is literally unreal, it minimises your pores making your skin look so smooth while also controls oils and makes your skin look flawless and matte. I use this for two different reasons, the first being the last step of my skincare and also sometimes as the first step of my makeup routine as a primer around my nose and forehead areas. This product is also 100% vegan and is suitable for blemished or broken skin and doesn't irritate your spots or breakouts at all. This is probably one of (if not my number one) favourite product in this post. If you are looking to invest in anything I have mentioned, I would highly recommend this product, it is a god send.

Now after I have taken off all of my makeup I then begin to use my products from 'The Body Shop'. Before I actually discuss the products that I use personally, I do just want to give you some amazing information about ALL of 'The Body Shops' products, being they are all naturally sourced ingredients, they are all 100% vegetarian, they are all Cruelty Free and they even have a full range that is completely vegan, so anyone and everyone will find some skincare products for their personal preferences either instore or on their website... which is obviously amazing!!
So onto the products, the first product I use after taking off my makeup is the 'seaweed cleansing gel wash' which aims to cleanse your skin and rebalance your moisture levels while being completely oil-free and soap free, so it definitely isn't harmful or harsh on sensitive skin. It also states to leave a matte finish on your skin, and I can definitely stand for this. The main reason I love this product is that it leaves your skin feeling really fresh and clean while also taking away any extra oil while also never leaving my skin feeling dry. The whole 'seaweed range' is based on 'combination/oily skin' which is perfect for me personally. I would definitely recommend this product if you struggle to cleanse your skin and tackle oils at the same time.
However, if you don't necessarily have oily skin, to the point where it bothers you, you could also try the 'Soap and Glory The Fab Pore: Purifying foam cleanser' which is also a really great product. This has the same effect on my skin, in terms of leaving your skin feeling really fresh and clean, however, it doesn't tackle the issue of oils in your face. I actually used this for a while with other products that worked on getting rid of oils in my skin and that also worked really well, it all depends on what products you prefer to use and for what purposes.
After cleansing my face I then like to go over my skin with 'The Body Shop seaweed oil-balancing toner'. I apply this all over my face again using a cotton pad and this again aims to refresh the skin while fighting impurities that lie in your pores. This particular product contains extracts from algae and cucumber, and again is aimed at combination/oily skin types and is completely alcohol-free. In addition to using this after cleansing my face after makeup, I also often apply this to my face before my makeup application which not only makes my face look and feel really fresh it also takes care of my pores and controls the oil in my face, helping my makeup look better and stay on longer throughout the day.
After toner, I then will go in with a face cream. Now believe me when I tell you, I have tried sooooooo many face creams and none of them ever worked for me. I just found they made my face more oily, or they made my skin breakout or I was allergic. That was until I found 'The Body Shop seaweed oil-control gel cream'. I genuinely don't know how this product works but it is genius. It somehow manages to make my skin feel so moisturised and hydrated while taking away the oils in my skin, and how that works I don't understand... but I am in love with the body shop for it. This cream is a gel consistency so it is super lightweight on the skin and I have even used it a primer for my makeup because it is not thick and cakey on the face. I also do find this product is one of the main ingredients in controlling the oil on my face, I would definitely recommend because there are not that many great face creams with this consistency that target oil and imperfections the way this does.
Talking of amazing formulas, not only have they perfected the consistency of the gel cream(above), they have also perfected this next product which is the 'The Body Shop seaweed oil-control overnight gel'. Now, this product is actually similar to the 'gel cream' above but it is a version that is based on wearing overnight and giving results from letting it soak into your skin as you sleep, basically the definition of 'beauty sleep'... and it works. I actually find this product makes my face look dewy, not oily. Have you ever looked at your face through the day and you can literally see the oil that is gathered around your nose or forehead, and it makes you look like a sweaty mess?? well, this does the absolute opposite, it leaves a matte finish but hydrates all the right areas, so turn oily to glowy overnight? I'll take it.

Lastly, I just apply some lip balm (any that is easy to get to) and that's my skincare routine complete. I hope you enjoyed this post and it maybe helped you in some way or gave you ideas for some products you could possibly try to conquer your oily or sensitive skin.
