Ultimate Guide to Primark Makeup: Dupes, Favourites and Staples
So I recently put a poll out on twitter (if you don't follow me its @makeupperks - https://twitter.com/makeupperks?lang=en-gb) of what you wanted to see this week based around Primark makeup. Now in previous posts I have talked about how much I actually like and use Primark makeup and beauty products, and how I believe they have genuinely improved as a brand, how the quality of the products in comparison to the price is amazing and how I am without a doubt here for Primark... being either makeup/beauty products, accessories or clothes. I mean who doesn't love Primark??
So the poll was a choice between a full rundown on all my Primark makeup products I own (which is almost a full face), a Primark dupe to the 'Huda beauty warm browns obsession palette' and an option for me to write both. So as you can tell by the name of this post, the 'full Primark makeup post' won by 39%, however, a very close runner-up was to do both posts. SO I thought I would incorporate the dupe into this post and if you want any more detail feel free to leave a comment down below or tweet it to me and I will let you know my in detail thoughts and comparisons between the two products. So stay tuned to this post for that, a little bit further on.
so in terms of the actual brand, Primark's beauty collection is called the Ps... range in terms of their branding, however, they do also have other brands that they sell or I guess work alongside and retail in their stores. I am actually going to add the sum up from the Primark website of how they describe their beauty range, because I actually think they have done a great job of putting across the positives of their brand.
"Our beauty offer is strong, and getting stronger. From no make-up make-up, to a full-on face of night-out glam, our arsenal of cosmetics is a sure-fire win. Our incredible range isn't just diverse, all-encompassing, and full of the big beauty trends, it's affordable and accessible too. With nail polish minis from 60p, and lipstick from just 80p, we take the price tag woes and confusion out of your beauty equation".
I also just want too quickly add that you can't buy Primark products online, so I will, of course, add pictures of each product and the price, however I, unfortunately, can't add any links, which I know is annoying but hopefully you won't have any issues finding the products in stores.
primers
I actually have 2 primers that I have tried from Primark and actually, like both of them. The first is the 'Ps... primer water' that states that it 'preps skin for makeup application and hydrates and refreshes'.This product is also silicone free, alcohol-free and oil-free (hallelujah). I actually really enjoy this product, and especially in the summer. Now I can't sit here and state that this product keeps my makeup on all day and stops any oil appearing on my face, because 1) I have never used this on its own, I always double up on primers 2)it could also depend on the amount of powder and setting spray you use. However I love spritzing this all over my face before doing my makeup, and I can stand for the fact that it is very refreshing... which is amazing for this horrendous humidity. This primer was £2 and I would recommend it if you like either primer waters, or you want a really lightweight primer rather than a gel or cream.
The second primer is actually not the Ps... brand, so therefore I'm not sure of the situation, in terms of it being a 'Primark product' but technically it is considering this is the only place I have ever seen this brand. Now before I even tell you what this product is, I am just going to make a statement. This is hands down one of the best primers I have ever tried... and i know that's bold but it amazing. The 'Flormar double radiance primer- highlighter' is a product that really confused me when I first saw it in store. I am still not completely sure if it is a face primer or a highlighter primer but makeup has no rules right so, what the hell.
It is a really bronze primer, and I will warn you that if you are really pale like me when you apply it to bare skin it does make you look kind of crazy... you will look so shiny and orange. However when you apply your foundation over... you will soon forget about the orange mess you were 2 seconds ago. It makes your foundation so glowy and dewy while still leaving your face looking matte... so for all oily skinned people out there, this one is definitely for you. Also just a side note, i also feel as though it has actually proved to be better at controlling the oil on my face throughout the day in comparison to my other primers... so its a win-win situation for us all. This primer cost £8.
Foundation
So for foundation I have the 'Ps... my perfect colour long-wear ultimate matte foundation' which claims to be 'double coverage', 'matte finish' and 'oil-free'. Now if you read a lot of beauty blogs (either that or you have just stumbled upon this post... which is more than fine) or you watch beauty youtubers, or even read the beauty section in magazines you will most likely remember this foundation absolutely blowing up across the internet a while back now, being very closely compared and named as a dupe for the 'Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation', and to be honest that is the only reason I tried this foundation... and I am so glad I did. If I'm being 100% honest I am willing to try any makeup brand at any price because as you have seen in my previous blog posts their are some absolute bargains that lie in the drugstore. However I have really oily skin as well as sensitive skin and I have had quite a few allergic reactions to foundations in the past, so I wouldn't personally of ever reached for this foundation in Primark. However this changed my mind completely, it didn't break my face out, I wasn't allergic to this (which was a shock) and the formula is actually so good its a joke. If I sat here and talked about why I like this foundation and compared it to all the other foundations I have ever tried, we would literally be here for weeks (not even being dramatic) but I will leave the article that made the internet go into frenzy over this foundation (me included) https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/make-up-artist-swears-primark-14355327. However like in the article, I do agree that the biggest downside to this foundation is the shade range, it is not very big at all, which I personally think now that this foundation has got as much attention as it has, Primark should really work to meet the needs of more skin tones, however if there is a shade that suits you I would definitely pick it up for only £5.
Blusher
The next product is the 'Ps... blush' which is described on the front as a 'high pigment blusher'. Now I personally believe that a blusher is not a product that you have to pay super expensive for a good quality product. I think there are a lot of really good and pigmented formulas out there for a really inexpensive price... and this is one of them. Believe me when I tell you, to save your money and go to Primark. I own quite a few blushers, both high end and drugstore, including ones from Becca, The Balm, Nars, Bare Minerals... and this is one of my absolute favourites, they are really pigmented and look really nice on the skin and they are £1.50. I also believe they have a few shades in these, my one is in the shade 'secrecy' and it is honestly such a pretty colour, would definitely recommend.
Highlighters
Now onto my favourite part of anything at all makeup related... the highlight. Now I feel like a broken record saying this but, I like a good glow, I like my highlighter to be blinding and the aim is to be seen from space, and it looks like Primark beauty has the same expectations of a highlighter... and I am in love with them for it. The days are over where you have to sell your house to be able to afford a good glow because Primark has your back.
The first product is a highlighter palette called 'Ps... Pure glow' which contains 4 highlighting shades; a white shade, a pink shade and two golden shades. I personally only use the golden shades because that's what suits me best personally, however all of the shades swatch really nice. The shades are really pretty and shimmery and don't at all look cakey or chunky on the cheeks, which is obviously never the goal, so we are all good there. This palette cost £5.
The next highlighters, I have actually talked about in my previous post my 'current go-to makeup/whats in my makeup bag?' (which is linked if you want to have a read). Now I won't go into a lot of detail here with this product, because if you have read the other post I don't want to bore you, and if you haven't you can go over there and read all about this highlighter. However what I will say is that I now own two of these highlighters, in the shades 'brunch club' and 'mink pink' and I am still reaching for them a lot and am still really impressed. I would 100% recommend these highlighters, for £2.50.
Eyeshadow- dupe!!
Now onto the product I mentioned earlier on in this post, and its the dupe for the 'Huda Beauty warm brown obsessions palette'. Now I actually love my Huda palette and haven't really got a bad word to say about it at all, however after picking up this Primark palette I honestly wouldn't spend your money on the Huda one. The Primark 'Ps... Amber passion' palette is literally made to be a dupe for the Huda palette, in terms of the packaging, the colour scheme and even the layout of the shades. Don't get me wrong, for obvious reasons the Huda shadows are more pigmented and smooth, however the Primark ones are not at all bad, and they are also easy to work with in terms of blending. Just a side note, I do just want to stress that I actually don't agree with brands taking other brands ideas, in terms of packaging and things, but I did just want to share this with you in case you cant get the Huda palette or just want to save some money (who doesn't right?). The Primark palette costs £3 and the Huda palette costs £25, i will place pictures of both below so you can compare them for yourself.

Eyeliner
So again like a couple of the items mentioned already, I have already mentioned and talked about how much I love and swear by the Primark £1 liquid eyeliner. Again I will leave my 'current go-to makeup/whats in my makeup bag?' here if you want an in-depth idea to why I love this eyeliner and why this is a major staple in my makeup collection and my literal everyday life, Its honestly such a good product at such a bargained price... there is a reason why people love this eyeliner, and I am fully aware as to why so many people do. You need this in your life, without a doubt!!
Brows
I actually don't have a brow product in the sense of filling in my brows because I still stick by my Anastasia dip brow, however, I do have a brow product that I use everyday and find amazing. That is the 'Ps... clear brow gel' and as the title states this a brow gel that sets and keeps your brows in place all day. If you have never used a brow gel before or you have never used this one, in particular, the only way I can describe the affect this has on my brows is... have you ever curled your hair really nice or created the perfect hair up-do? well in order to keep your hair like that throughout the day/night, what would you do? put hairspray or product on it right? well this is that for your brows... and its £1. This is such an easy product to use but is also so beneficial in keeping your brows looking good all day, would definitely recommend picking one (or ten) of these up.
Lips
Now onto lips, I actually have 2 types of lip products that I have tried and loved from Primark, the first being lip liners and the second being liquid lipsticks.
I suppose it would make sense to start with the lip liners considering that would be the first product you use, so this is going to sound really dramatic (again... sorry you should be used to it by now) but these lip liners are such a steal, I literally have like 5 of each colour because they are honestly that good. If I was to compare these liners to any others I have tried it would hands down be the ones you get with a Kylie Cosmetics LipKit. I adore my Kylie lip kits they are some of my favourite lipsticks/liners I own, however I would have no problem whatsoever using Primark liners instead of them, they are so similar. In fact I genuinely believe if you changed the packaging you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference (in formula obviously... not colour). I actually cant stress enough how good these are, as I said above I own about 3 of each of the colours I own, which are; 01,10,58,502 and 09. Like I promise you, you wont regret trying them.
Now onto lipsticks, the 'Ps... super matte liquid lipsticks' are such good lipsticks and they are only £2. Now lets be real, for that price, they arent going to be to the standard of Anastasia Beverly Hills or Jeffree Star, however I wouldn't expect them to be. But I do actually love these, they are pigmented, they apply really easily, they arent patchy and also they last really well on the lips. I own 2 of these lipsticks (shades; Karla and 01) and I do use them quite often, you should definitely try them, for yourself you wont be disappointed.
Setting Spray
Now no makeup look (in my opinion) is finished without drowning yourself in setting spray, especially with my oily skin and the summer that we have had this year!! This is actually a recent purchase for me and it is the 'PHr perform, hydrate and recover cooling setting spray'. Let me just tell you first of all, this smells AMAZING!! Like I could literally spray this on my face for the whole day because it smells soooo good. Also have you ever used a setting spray, and after you have sprayed it onto your face and it has all dried down, it literally feels and looks no different... like its just a complete waste of time? that is not this. You can instantly feel your makeup becoming more hydrated while also becoming more mattified, now I know that sounds like such a contradiction and I have no idea how this works, but I am not complaining at all. Now we all know that I stand with my little bottle of lifesaver that Urban Decay have graced us with, however this is a really good alternative to that and I also love to take this in my bag to spray on my face if I get too hot or my makeup starts to feel heavy on my face.
So that's it for this post, I really hope you enjoyed it and it has maybe given you a list of things you should pick up and try next time you are in Primark, or maybe you have found some cheaper alternative to expensive products you currently use. If you have any questions, recommendations of other products for me to try or you want to share your opinions on these things if you have tried them, you can either comment them down below or message me on my other social medias, which are:
