The vault collection: Review
So this for me is such an exciting post to write, and it is a review of the Vault Collection that recently was launched by Morphe in collaboration with Jaclyn Hill (but you definitely already knew that). Now the reason this is so exciting to me is because I genuinely love makeup, I love trying and finding new amazing makeup products and also just generally love creating different looks with different products.
Now before on my blog i have talked about how much I absolutely adore my MorpheXJaclyn Hill palette (the original) and how i was so impressed by not only the pigment and quality of the palette but also the colour range and how versatile the palette was, which is the reason I still reach for it more than my drawer full of other palettes (which believe me shows just how versatile it is, because well... I get bored really easily), so when I heard that Jaclyn was again teaming with Morphe to release these palettes I was of course beyond excited.
Jaclyn announced over on her youtube channel (which is linked) that when designing the original palette and choosing the shades that she and Morphe would include, there were also a lot of amazing shades that didn't quite fit the palette, either for the shade range or just because there were too many. However, to every makeup lovers advantage, they kept these shades in what they called a 'vault' to be used in the future, which obviously is where the name of this palette comes from.
The original release date for the palette was set to be June 26th, however like most of you will know this was pushed back and delayed until August because after PR packages were sent out and a fans got their hands on the palettes at a meet and greet in Vegas, there were several complaints about the formulation of some shadows not being pressed correctly, therefore, the pigmentation was suffering. Now I do believe this was a genuine mistake and it could happen to any makeup palette that is being mass produced, but the reason I wanted to mention this was because of the response of both Morphe and Jaclyn, to not only delay the launch and fix the product but to also provide every single person who either purchased the palette (before the official launch) or received them through PR with a brand new collection. Now I honestly think this shows the passion and determination to the products that both brands portray, because lets be real here, after the hype surrounding the last palette they could have easily released them and they still would have sold and they would have still made their money, and this shows that both sides of the brands actually care about their customers/fans and also care about makeup genuinely, which I love them for.
Now onto what you have actually came here for, the review. Firstly I just wanted to say that the shipping time on the morphe site was unreal. I literally ordered my collection on the release day (August 14th) and it was here on the 16th, which I think is great. Now let's be real, to look at these palettes they are an absolute dream. the packaging is such a cute and beautiful concept and I adore the fact that they are so small and compact together because they are great for anyone who travels.
In relation to the price of the palettes, each palette retails for £15 each. I honestly think this is such an affordable price for these palettes. If you want to buy the whole collection (all four palettes) that costs £49 on the morphe website (which saves you £11, we love a bargain right?).
Now I am not going to keep you in suspense too much, I am literally just going to say that these palettes are amazing. Every shade is pigmented and creamy. They glide over the skin and especially the shimmer shadows. Do you know with most shadows you will have to wet your brush with some Mac fix Plus, you don't with these shadows. These are hands down easily some of the best shadows I own.
Now for anyone who doesn't want the whole collection, and is maybe trying to decide what palette they want to buy, in terms of what colour range they would prefer I thought I would briefly talk over each palette, my favourite shades from each and then try to decide which out of the four is my favourite (but I am so indecisive so don't hold your breath for a final decision).
Ring the alarm palette:
This palette... oh my god!! As soon as I saw this palette I knew straight away that I would love it with all my heart. Everything about the orange/red toned shades is right up my street. I mean who doesn't love a good burnt orange/ burgundy toned moment with a shimmery gold lid... am I right? I actually don't think there is a single shade in this palette that I don't like or to be honest haven't used. If I did have to pick a few shades I would call my favourites (this wasn't easy), I think I would say:
The dark magic palette is every smokey eye lovers dream palette. However, if I am being completely honest here... this is the palette I was least excited about. Everyone has their colour ranges that they are drawn towards and are totally comfortable in using on an everyday basis, and these colours aren't that for me... usually. This palette has totally changed my opinion on using darker colours, and honestly, there are a couple of shades in this palette that are my absolute favourites in the whole collection.
Now last but certainly not least, is the 'bling boss' palette. Now I have mentioned in some previous blog posts how much I love to wear a purple eye look. I love to throw on a pretty purple half cut crease, with a shimmer lid and a plum/purple outer corner, paired with a nude lip and your good to go. If that palette doesn't scream that look at you, I don't think we are looking at the same palette. This is another palette that has some absolutely beautiful shades in, my favourites would have to be:

Ring the alarm palette:
- Rush -second shade from the left on the top row, which is a matte shade.
- mugshot- which is the centre shade on the bottom row, which is another stunning matte shade
- framed- which is fourth from the left on the bottom row, which is a darker plum/purple matte shade
- on camera- which is the centre of the top row. This is a true gold shimmer (a very creamy and pigmented one at that).
With the combination of colours, this palette is a very diverse product to have. It has the ability to create a really subtle daytime looks and also dramatic and shimmery night out makeup. If you are anything like me and love this colour range, this palette is definitely a must have to add to your collection.
Dark magic palette:
The dark magic palette is every smokey eye lovers dream palette. However, if I am being completely honest here... this is the palette I was least excited about. Everyone has their colour ranges that they are drawn towards and are totally comfortable in using on an everyday basis, and these colours aren't that for me... usually. This palette has totally changed my opinion on using darker colours, and honestly, there are a couple of shades in this palette that are my absolute favourites in the whole collection.
My favourite shades from this palette are:
- potion- the very left hand shade on the bottom row. This is a really pretty khaki green matte shade.
- inside job- centre of the bottom row. This is a dark green matte shade.
- busted- second from the left on the bottom row. This is a teal blue matte shade.
- power cut- which is the second from the left on the top row. This is an unreal stunning silver shimmer shade (one of my favourites out of all the palettes).
This palette and these shades are so out of my comfort zone but I am so glad I tried them, because not only have I loved these shades but it has also made me try different eye looks and be more creative with different colours.
Armed & gorgeous palette:
This is the palette out of the whole collection I heard most people love and rave about, and I am certainly no exception. This colour range gives me such autumn vibes and I am totally and completely here for it. These shades are so beautiful and I think they all compliment each other so well, I honestly think you could throw any of these colours together and create an amazing look, no matter what.
In terms of my favourites, I absolutely adore every single shade in this palette, they are all unreal and are so me. Although I do just want to stress my love for the shade 'coin' (fourth from the left on the top row). This shade has given me life... it is such a pretty and unusual colour, while still being completely wearable for any occasion and any type of look. It is a really dramatic colour without being really noticeable and out there. If you are the type of person (like me) that loves full glam makeup for any occasion (I'm talking to both go shopping and to go on a night out) this is your colour. This shade could possibly be my favourite shade from the whole collection. If you don't enjoy the colours from the rest of the palette (very doubtful... I mean look at them) this shade is still worth buying the palette for, in my opinion.
Bling boss palette:
Now last but certainly not least, is the 'bling boss' palette. Now I have mentioned in some previous blog posts how much I love to wear a purple eye look. I love to throw on a pretty purple half cut crease, with a shimmer lid and a plum/purple outer corner, paired with a nude lip and your good to go. If that palette doesn't scream that look at you, I don't think we are looking at the same palette. This is another palette that has some absolutely beautiful shades in, my favourites would have to be:
- sparks- left-hand side shade, on the bottom row. This is a plum/red matte shade.
- rockstar- which is the centre bottom shade. This is a plum/purple shade which is also matte.
- bling bling- the left-hand side shade on the top row. This is a champagne/light pink shimmer shade.
- Gem- the centre of the top row. This is a very bright and vibrant true purple shimmer shade.
This again, just like the other three palettes, is a stunning palette. The pigmentation is there, the shadows are pressed lovely and the shade range is to die for. If you are a purple eyeshadow lover (or even if you're not usually) i would highly reccomend this palette, it wont let you down.
Now onto the hardest part of this post, I have to try and pick a favourite. I firstly just want to say that these palettes are all very different, and I would reach for them all for different looks, occasions and styles of makeup looks. If i am going on what palette i would use the most, I would have to say the 'ring the alarm palette'. I adore the shades in the palette and i genunily find my self reaching for that palette the most. However I also really love the versatility in the 'armed and goregeous plaette', But lets be real here, i could spend the next month talking about all the pro's to all these palettes as individuals but they also fit together really well as a collection.
So thats it for this post. I genunily love this collection and it was so worth the wait. I think other brands better step up if they want to take my attention away from these palettes anytime soon, but what else could we expect from Morphe and Jaclyn Hill?
If you own any of these palettes or are thinking about getting them I would love to know your thoughts, whats your favourite palette, what eye looks have you created and do you think they are worth the hype? let me know either in the comments or on my other social medias.
I will link all the palettes as individuals and the whole collection over on my 21 buttons account (which i will link below along with my other social medias).
